Abstract

1418008 Protecting wood with thiophosphates RHONE-POULENC SA 7 Dec 1972 [10 Dec 1971] 56568/72 Heading A5E A method for the protective treatment of wood against xylophagous insects comprises applying to the wood a liquid composition containing, as insecticidal ingredient, at least one phosphorus ester of the general formula: wherein R represents a hydrogen or chlorine atom or a methyl or methoxy radical, R 1 represents a methyl or ethyl radical, and X and Y are the same or different and each represents an oxygen or sulphur atom. A preferred compound is 6-chloro-3-0, 0-diethyldithiophosphorylmethyl-benzoxazolone. The invention also comprises suitable compositions and combinations thereof with containers. Optional ingredients are other pesticides, e.g. tributyl tin oxide and carbaryl, wood hardeners, film-forming agents, dye stuffs, pigments and flame-proofing substances.
