Abstract
1417867 Vaporizing C 5 -C 9 hydrocarbons TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP 15 Dec 1972 [14 Feb 1972] 57966/72 Heading C5E C 5 -C 9 hydrocarbon mixtures are vaporized by (a) partially vaporizing the mixture in a first direct fired heating zone at an elevated pressure, (b) reducing the pressure of the partially vaporized first heating zone effluent to substantially totally vaporize the hydrocarbon, and (c) superheating the vaporized hydrocarbon in a second direct fired heating zone. As shown in Fig. 2 a vaporized hydrocarbon mixture 14 is produced from a liquid feed 1 and passed into a cyclic process for the separation of straight chain hydrocarbons from non-straight chain hydrocarbons by adsorption using beds of adsorbent, e.g. a calcium-subsituted sodium alumino-silicate having pore openings of about 5Š. The adsorption can be carried out at 400-700‹ F. and 50-200 p.s.i.g. and the desorption can be carried out at 400- 700‹ F. and either with a reduction in pressure to 5-50 p.s.i.a. or with a desorbent vapour. Fig. 3 (not shown) illustrates a process in which the desorption is proceeded by a purge stage and the purge stream (35) is recycled to the mixture entering to vaporization stages.
