1416468 Linear motors FUJITSU Ltd and FUJITSU FANUC Ltd 15 May 1973 [25 May 1972] 23030/73 Heading H2A In a pulse operated surface motor in which a slider is movable in two mutually orthogonal directions over the surface of a stationary member 52, the stationary member is formed of magnetic material and has high reluctance zones 51 spaced apart in the two directions of travel so that teeth 53 are formed by the magnetic material between adjacent zones 51 in the two directions of travel. The zones 51 may be cavities or through holes and may be enlarged, Fig. 7 (not shown), so that the teeth 53 are are rectangular rather than square. The pitch of the teeth 53 may be different in the two directions of travel.
