1415672 Seaming and finishing edges of sheet material INMONT CORP 30 Oct 1972 [3 Dec 1971] 52371/74 Divided out of 1415671 Addition to 1415671 Heading B5K [Also in Divisions B6 C3 and F2] A sealant clip 20 comprises a flexible, resilient holder 1 capable of being clipped on and, by its own resilience, remaining clipped to a flanged joint 13, and a sealant strip 2 attached to holder 1 in such a manner that the holder is capable of resiliently holding the sealant strip against the joint. The holder is non-reactive with the sealant and has a softening point above that of the sealant strip. Upon suitable heating, the strip softens and conforms to the shape of the joint; the holder may be removed on cooling. Uses referred to are on joints of aircraft and boat bodies and particularly car bodies. In the latter case the softening of the sealant may take place during the paint curing treatment in ovens. Suitable materials for the holder are: acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene polymer, chlorinated polyethylene, polyolefin or aluminium. The sealant strip comprises a composition of a styrene-butadiene block copolymer rubber and a vinyl toluene copolymer.
