Abstract

1415600 Bucket-type centrifuge BECKMAN INSTRUMENTS Inc 14 Feb 1973 [4 April 1972] 7266/73 Heading B2P In a centrifuge rotor including a rotor head 11 having a plurality of bucket-receiving cavities and means 18, 19 in each cavity for supporting a bucket 13 in a vertical position and allowing it to swing into a horizontal position where it seats on a wall portion 16 of the cavity during a centrifuging operation, each cavity comprises a pocket 23 communicating with a hole 20 extending through the rotor head spaced from and parallel to the rotor axis, a well 37 spaced radially from the pocket and a slot 38 connecting the pocket to the well. Each bucket 13 is provided with hooks 32 which engage a cross-pin 19 at the lower end of the body 18 of a hanger 17 which is positioned in the corresponding hole 20 and held therein by its split and threadedly bored upper end being expanded by a screw 26. Deflection of the body 18 is limited during centrifugation by a boss 24 thereon engaging with the wall of the hole 20.
