Abstract

1415197 Photo-electric sorting apparatus WEIMAR-KOMBINAT VEB 8 Sept 1972 41855/72 Heading G1A Apparatus for sorting agricultural products, Fig.1 (not shown) is provided with a photo-electric testing station, Fig.10 in which either the transmissivity or reflectivity of the products is monitored as they fall sequentially through the station and the electrical output from the station actuates a device which rejects faulty objects. The transmissivity embodiment shown uses a plurality of photo-cells 27 and a reference photocell 30 which views a standard surface 31. The measuring and reference signals are combined in a differential amplifier (36) Fig.15 (not shown). A further source/detector arrangement, Figs 12-14 (not shown) produces a signal indicative of the size of each object which is combined with the reference signal. The combined reference, measuring and size signals are evaluated in a processing circuit (38) which produces a delayed reject signal when a defective object is sensed. In the reflectivity embodiments, Figs 16-21 (not shown) the objects drop sequentially through a ring arrangement (41) whose interior is illuminated by a plurality of shielded halogen lamps. Light reflected from the object surface is monitored by a number of photo-cells (42). Reflectance may be monitored at two different wavelengths, using a beam-splitter and two filter/ detector combinations, Fig.19 (not shown).
