Abstract
1414935 Silicon-containing lactones V F MIRONOV N S FEDOTOV and I G RYBALKA 4 March 1974 [5 July 1973] 9613/74 Headings C3S and C3T Novel silicon-containing lactones of the formula wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are each an alkyl radical, R is a C 2-10 normal or iso alkylene radical, and n is 0-20 and m is 1-3, may be preparared by reaction of an unsaturated silyl ester R<SP>5</SP> 3 SiO.CO.R<SP>6</SP>, where each R<SP>5</SP> is an alkyl radical and R<SP>6</SP> is a terminally unsaturated C 2-10 normal or iso alkylenyl radical, with a hydrosilicon compound H(R<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>SiO) n R<SP>3</SP>R<SP>4</SP>Si- (CH 2 )mX, where X is halogen, in the presence of a hydrosilylation catalyst, and cyclization of the adduct by reaction with an alkali, eliminating R<SP>5</SP> 3 Si- and -X. In the examples 5 : 5 : 7 : 7 - tetramethyl - 5 : 7 - disila - 6- oxa - caprylolactone, 2 : 4 : 4 - trimethyl - 4- silavalerolactone, 5 : 5 - dimethyl - 5 - silacaprylolactone and 12 : 12 - dimethyl - 12- silatridecanolactone are prepared by action of Na 2 CO 3 solution on the adducts from the trimethylsilyl esters of vinylacetic, methacrylic and undecenoic acids and HMe 2 SiOSiMeCl, Me 2 HSiCH 2 Cl and Me 2 HSi(CH 2 ) 3 Cl in the presence of H 2 PtCl 6 .6H 2 O. Uses.-As monomers for the preparation of selectively gas-permeable polymer membranes.
