Abstract

1413799 Diagnostic reagent BECKMAN INSTRUMENTS INC 6 Lec 1972 56299/72 Heading A5B [Also in Division G1] A reagent agglutinative with viral antigen is obtained by separating the erythrocytes from animal or fowl blood, treating the erythrocytes with an isotonic aqueous solution of pH about 7 and containing borate ions and a preservative, incubating the mixture so formed at a temperature of 2 to 4‹C for a period of between 8 and 23 days and separating the resulting sedimented white-greyish material from the residue. The blood may be rat, mouse, dog, pig, guinea pig, chicken, day old chick, pigeon, goose, swan or duck blood. It is stated that the reagent is also agglutinable by antibodies associated with syphilis.
