Abstract

1413518 Printed circuits; tape cable CAVIS-CAVETTI ISOLATI SpA 21 Nov 1972 [25 Nov 1971] 53686/72 Headings H1R and H1A [Also in Division H2] A flexible electrical connecting system for motor cars comprises a flexible circuit and flexible multiconductor strips mounted on an insulant support and covered by insulant material. A thin insulant foil (Fig. 1) of plastic material shaped conformably to the interior of the instrument panel (Fig. 2, not shown) has conducting copper strips 3 affixed thereto defining the several circuits interconnecting the vehicle supply and the various loads through main and auxiliary switches. Suitably shaped openings 4 and slots 5 directly receive and connect instruments, switches, and indicator lamps (not shown) and permit passage of mechanical components. Subsequently the circuit is covered as to its conducting parts with a thin insulant layer. A flexible multiconductor strip interconnects the several circuits with the distribution fumebox (Fig. 7, not shown) and comprises a flexible plastic support layer 7 (Fig. 4) carrying plural thin copper strips 8 covered by an insulant layer 9, with a thin layer of adhesive 10 on the free surface protected until application to the vehicle by a layer of siliconized paper 11; the several sections of the electrical system being interconnected by plural junction boxes (Fig. 7, not shown) respectively comprising (Fig. 5) an insulant body 14 slotted at 15 to receive the exposed and superposed ends of strips 8, which are retained in contact by a jointing plug member 16 fitting into slot 15. A lower surface of the plug member may be coated with adhesive protected by a layer of siliconized paper until application to the vehicle (Fig. 6, not shown).
