1413472 2,4-Diamino-pyrimidines WELLCOME FOUNDATION Ltd 12 Oct 1972 [12 Oct 1971 10 Dec 1971] 26888/75 and 26894/75 Divided out of 1413471 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds having the general formula wherein R<SP>7</SP> is the anionic residue of a carboxylic acid or an organic sulphonic acid. They may be prepared by reacting 2,4-diamino-5-hydroxymethyl pyrimidine with a carboxylic acid or an organic sulphonic acid, or by reacting 2,4- diamino - 5 - bromomethylpyrimidine with the sodium salt of a carboxylic acid or organic sulphonic acid. The 2,4-diamino-5-hydroxymethylpyrimidine starting material may be prepared by reduction of 2,4-diamino-5-formylpyrimidine which in turn may be prepared by reduction of 2,4-diamino-5-cyanopyrimidine.
