Abstract

1409050 Resonant card reader GEC-ELLIOTT AUTOMATION Ltd 28 Nov 1972 [30 Nov 1971] 55558/71 Addition to 1340203 Heading G4M A card carrying two rows of rectangular spirals 53 each electrically resonant at one of four different frequencies is placed on a reader having three parallel drive lines 10, 14, 15 such that one line 10 is between the rows of spirals and the other two lines are outside the rows. The reader has screening strips 36 and read-out strips 20. A stepped oslillator supplies signals to line 10 and alternately to lines 14, 15. The signals may be swept about each of four stepped frequencies to compensate for variations in the spirals. The signals on line 10 and either line 14 or 15 cancel in the row between line 10 and the selected line so that read-out only occurs for the other row.
