Abstract
1408026 Radio navigation STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 25 Oct 1973 [31 Oct 1972] 50050/72 Addition to 1317310 Heading H4D A Doppler-effect beacon comprises a first linear array 1 of m aerials 2 equally spaced by a distance of p, a second co-linear array 3 of n aerials spaced from one another by distances of x.p, where x is any integer from 1 to m, means for commutating energy at a first radio frequency to each of the n aerials of the array 3 in turn, and means for commutating energy at a second radio frequency, different from the first, during the energization of each aerial of the first array, in succession to as many aerials of the second array as correspond to the factor x for the spacing between the aerial of the first array being energized and the next aerial thereof to be energized. The two arrays are commutated in opposite directions. As described, m is eight, p is a quarter-wavelength, and x is variously 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8.
