Abstract
1407793 Mounting piezo-electric elements MULLARD Ltd 13 Oct 1972 [14 Oct 1971] 47902/71 Heading H1E A piezo-electric bimorph is supported by a spring support on one side and a rigid support on the other, the supports contacting the bimorph on or along the same centre line, at least one of them making two points of contact. The supports may both consist of wires (Fig. 1, not shown), e.g. a resilient U-shaped wire may contact the underside of the bimorph at a single central point and a stiff wire along the whole length of a centre line on the upper side. Both wires may provide electrical leads and may be soldered to a printed circuit board. As shown in Fig. 2, the bimorph 5 is mounted between an M-shaped resilient wire 1A making a single central contact, and a pair of printed tracks 6 on a circuit board 2. The wire 1A is soldered to the board. In a modification of this. construe,- tion the M-shaped wire is replaced by the spring 11, Fig. 3d, having tabs 8 which provide knifeedge supports for the bimorph. The spring also carries pairs of tabs 9, 10 which are soldered to the printed circuit board.
