1406219 Voltage monitoring; determining deviations in mass-per-unit length photoelectrically MOLINS Ltd 16 Nov 1972 [17 Nov 1971] 53338/71 Headings G1A and G1U [Also in Division H3] The integral 6,7, Fig. 1 of an unknown voltage 2 less a reference voltage 1 is applied to a threshold circuit 11 whose output is sampled at regular instants by an AND gate 15, and immediately after each sampling the integrator is reset 8. Thus if the mean value of the unknown voltage, as determined over each successive integrating period, exceeds the reference voltage an output signal 18 is produced. The arrangement is said to be particularly applicable to monitoring the output of a Beta-ray cigarette mass per unit length testing device, and the output signal may either control a warning lamp or cause the automatic sorting of the cigarettes.
