1404572 Mixer/settler apparatus BRITISH NUCLEAR FUELS LTD 27 July 1972 [13 July 1971[ 32721/71 Headings B1C and B1F Countercurrent mixer settler apparatus in which the tendency for interstage flooding at abnormally high feed rates is reduced comprises mixer settler units in which alternate positive and negative pressure pulses applied to stub 5 causes liquid mixture from mixer compartment 1 to be transferred to settler compartment 2 via unit 3 by being lifted up dip tube 4. Mixing is achieved in dip tube 4 as a result of the pulses, and may be increased by shaping the inside of the tube 4 or packing it so as to cause turbulence.
