Abstract

1403724 Jointing; punching ADA (HALIFAX) Ltd 10 Oct 1972 [3 Dec 1971] 56216/71 Headings B3U and B3W [Also in Division B5] A component 1 is joined to a thinner and harder component 2 by punching a depression in the thicker component 1 to cause a hole to be punched through the thinner component 2 and material from the thicker component 1 to be extruded into the hole formed and to protrude from the thinner component 2. The sheets 1, 2 to be joined together are positioned on a die 3 which co-operates with a punch 4 of circular or square cross-section. The sheets 1, 2 may be of plastics or the thicker sheet 1 may be of brass and the other sheet 2 of phosphor bronze.
