Abstract
1402883 Packing material MASCHINENUND APPARATEBAU GRIMMA VEB 27 July 1972 35277/72 Heading B1R [Also in Division F4] A packing for gas-liquid contact apparatus comprises a plurality of layers of elements. Stacked one above the other, each element comprising a plurality of parallel spaced apart plate or strip-like members 1 made of expanded metal and inclined at an angle with respect to the vertical axis of the contact apparatus, the members 1 being joined together by means of connecting elements 2. The lower corners 4 of the expanded metal members 1, which in use are adjacent the wall of the contact apparatus, are bevelled. The strips 1 are provided with incisions 5 along one edge, the portions 6 of each strip between the incisions being bent upwardly with respect to the surface of the remainder of the strip. Elements in adjacent layers are rotated 90‹ (see Fig 2) or 180‹ (see Fig 3) with respect to one another.
