1402617 Treating bark; obtaining fibres BOHEMIA INC 10 Aug 1972 [8 March 1972] 37330'72 Headings D1F, D1P and D2W [Also in Division C5] A method of separating bark components from bark comprises treating comminuted bark with a neutral organic solvent to separate wax therefrom, removing the solvent from the residue, heating the residue to remove residual solvent, and mechanically classifying the bark residue selectively into cork, bark fibre, and non-fibrous phloem fractions. The bark may be Douglas fir bark. The solvent may be a mixtuer of aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons.
