Abstract
1402363 Antiskid braking systems; valves AISIN SEIKI KK 21 Feb 1973 [25 Feb 1972 6 March 1972] 8411/73 Headings F2F and F2V In a vehicle antiskid braking system in which pressure is transmitted by a fluid pressure operated master cylinder 311, skidding is relieved upon detection of a skid condition by returning the pressure fluid used to operate the master cylinder to a reservoir 352. As shown, during normal braking a power piston 308 operates master cylinder 311 by fluid transmitted to a booster chamber 331 of a control valve unit on depression of a pedal 305 which causes rightward movement of a piston 304. A seat 317 of piston 304 engages a valve face 321 of a valve member 320 thereby closing the communication which normally exists between chamber 331 and reservoir 352 by way of a bore 354 provided in a piston 307, a blind bore 316, axial and radial bores 315, 314 in piston 304, chamber 330 and line 353. Thereafter, valve member 320 moves rightwardly to unseat a face 322 thereof from a seat 324 and establish communication between chamber 331 and an accumulator Acc. by way of a compartment 326, groove 328, path 349, grooves 337, 339, respectively provided in a valve member 335 and bore 336, and line 355. On detection of skidding a solenoid coil 344 is energized drawing valve member 335 rightwardly closing communication between path 349 and line 355 and intercommunicating a groove 338 in valve member 350, and path 350. Fluid in the chamber 331 is then returned to reservoir 352 by way of path 350 and groove 338, a radial bore 346, an axial bore 345 and a radial bore 347 respectively provided in valve member 335, annular groove 341 and line 353. If the accummulator or pump P supplying it fails, a mechanical connection is established from pedal 105 through piston 304, piston 307, and a projection 332 on piston 308 to apply the master cylinder directly. In a further embodiment two solenoid operated valves are provided controlling two valve members, one solenoid coil of which remains energized on brake release for a short while under the control of a capacitor so that rapid repressurization of the booster chamber is possible.
