Abstract
1402289 Controlling pumps and motors CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 19 Dec 1972 [23 Dec 1971] 58620/72 Heading F1A [Also in Division F2] A control linkage for a pair of variable displacement pumps or motors 10, 12 of a hydrostatic transmission comprises a pair of levers 42 each of which is, at one end, adjustably connected to a pump or motor displacement actuating element 16 and at the other end is adjustably connected to a link 60 which inter-connects the levers 42. Each lever 42 is pivotally connected to an arm 20 of a bracket 24 carrying two adjusting screws 26, 28 between which is held an arm 22 fast with the pump or motor displacement adjusting mechanism 16. A pin 44 on the other end of the lever 42 engages a slot 46 in a bracket 36 which is pivoted at 38 on a fixed frame. The pin 44 is normally held against the end of the slot 46 by a spring pressed yoke 50. The end position of the slot is adjustable by a screw 48. The brackets 36 are additionally pivoted to the inter-connecting link 60. An hydraulic motor 40 pivots the brackets 36 about their pivot points 38 in unison for equal displacement changes in the pumps or motors. Selective operation of hydraulic motors 34 acts through the yokes 50 to move the pin 44 of the lever 42 along the slot 46 to effect selective displacement changes in the pumps or motors for steering purposes. The pistons 52 of the motors 33 are fast with the yokes 50 and are biased to the position shown by springs 54. The pumps or motors 10, 12 may be in separate hydrostatic transmission or may be motors supplied by a common pump.
