Abstract

1401619 Lay figures TRIBRIT PRODUCTS Ltd 9 Aug 1972 [12 Aug 1971] 37970/71 Heading G5G [Also in Divisions A6 and B6] A model figure having at least one limb, e.g. a toy, a human or an animal figure, is formed by modelling clay &c. upon a support made from malleable flat sheet material in the shape of an outline of the figure to be modelled, the limb being bendable about two inclined axes relative to the torso of the figure, has at least one additional piece of sheet material removably attached or attachable to the support to provide a thirddimensional guide to the outline of the figure. In one form, a support 11, Fig. 1, in the shape of a human figure, is made from tinplate &c., and is formed with fold-lines a. b &c. so that it may be bent to a desired shape. Slotted sheet members 31 &c., Fig. 2, are provided to mount on the arms, legs &c. of the figure. In the form shown, strips 19, Fig. 4, of modelling material are first wound upon the support 11, and the slotted sheet members 31 &c., Fig. 5, are then pushed over the limbs of the support and the modelling material. The model is also secured upon a stand 17. The figure is completed by layering-on more modelling material until the outline indicated by the support 11 and sheet members 31 &c. has been filled in. Alternatively, the slotted sheet members 31 &c. are mounted upon the support member 11 before any modelling material is layered-on. The model is finished by painting, spraying or glazing, or it may be dismantled for subsequent re-use.
