Abstract

140,139. Cappelli, V. Dec. 12, 1918. Roasting granular substances. - A combined coffee roaster, grinder, and infuser comprises a roasting-chamber 4, a grinder 6, and an infusing- tank 5, which is supplied with water. from a boiler 3 heated by a lamp 2. The boiler 3 has a central flue 7 opening into an upper part 8 in which the roaster which is carried on a shaft 9 is situated. The shaft 9, which is driven by a pulley wheel 11, is carried by pivots 10 on the main frame and is adapted to be clutched to bevel-gear driving the vertical shaft 23 operating the grinder. The clutch is automatic ally thrown in on opening a door in the end wall of the roaster after the coffee has been sufficiently roasted. The beans are pushed into the grinder by internal projections 12 on the roaster 4.
