Abstract

1400885 Granular red lead DAI NIPPON TORYO KK 9 June 1972 27173/72 Heading C1A [Also in Division F4] Granular red lead containing not less than 80% Pb 3 O 4 (preferably not less than 90%) and having a grain diameter of from 10 to 30 Tyler mesh is made by adding from 6 to 10% by weight of water to litharge from an oxidation pot process or a lead suboxide powder (both defined as mixtures of 32 to 5% Pb and 68 to 85% PbO respectively, kneading and granulating the resulting product to grains of diameter of not more than 2 mm. (especially from 0À7 to 1À2 mm.) aging the granular product at room temperature with agitation in order to reduce the water content to from 0À5 to 7% by weight (preferably 0À8 to 2À0% by weight) and the metallic lead content to not more than 5%, (especially to not more than 3%) and finally oxidizing the aged product at a temperature of from 380‹ to 480‹ C. (especially 400‹ to 450‹ C.) for from 4 to 6 hours in a rotary kiln to obtain the granular red lead. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,247,898.
