Abstract

1400803 Digital transmission; time division multiplexing INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 27 Nov 1972 [10 Dec 1971] 54740/72 Heading H4P A system sequentially transferring data between a central processing unit CPU and a plurality of transmission lines comprises a buffer store arranged to store individual line control words controlling transfer of data which is transferred to a local store in time sequence, and a control unit connected to local store to determine the functional mode of each line. To change a control word, a request signal is applied to the buffer store which is turn applies the word to the control unit modifying, if necessary, an existing line control word, which when next transferred to the buffer, controls data transfer between the relevant line and buffer store. The control unit controls data transmission in accordance with a plurality of micro-programmes which include one for controlling request queue data and for updating line control words in accordance with the queue sequence.
