Abstract

1400191 Trailers; articulated vehicles C VAN DER LELY NV 6 Sept 1972 [6 Sept 1971] 41350/72 Headings B7B and B7H In a transporter having a load receiving surface, implement, or machine connected to a frame 19 by the intermediary of a rotatable support 28, the frame which is completely supported by the tractor has supports 25, 26 for sustaining the load receiving surface, implement, or machine when the frame is disconnected from the tractor. In a preferred embodiment, Fig. 1, a driving cabin 2 is pivotally mounted to an arm 5 which is further pivotable to a frame 4 of a tractor 1. Rotary shafts 10 driven from an internal combustion engine 13 transmit drive to the front and rear axles 6, 7. Jacks 14 have a locking mechanism at their upper ends for co-operating with recesses at the four corners of the frame 19. A coupling and lifting mechanism 17 located near a power take off (not shown), is provided for driving moving parts of a tiltable loading trough 30. The trough portion 36 is tiltable by means of hydraulic rams or jacks 34. For disconnection of the tractor 1 from the trough 30, the jacks 14 are raised and beams (23) (24), Fig. 2 (not shown), are extended axially outwardly from the ends of tubes 21, 22 and turned to a vertical position whereupon the supports 25, 26 are lengthened until foot plates 27 engage the ground surface. The locking mechanisms of the jacks 14 are then retracted from the frame 19 for the tractor 1 to be driven away. Controls for the operation of the jacks and their locking mechanisms, the rams 34, and for the adjustments of the supports 25, 26 are all located within the cabin 2. In another embodiment, Fig. 4, the separate frame 19 carries an excavating and/or loading device 41 and a tiltable loadreceiving trough 42. The arm 5 is displaced forwardly of the frame 4 so that the cabin is disposed to one side of the transporter thus leaving a central space for the mounting and operation of the device 41. In other embodimenu a large trailer (40), Fig. 3 (not shown), or a crane (71), Fig. 5 (not shown), is connected to the frame 19 by the rotatable support 18.
