1399461 Inter-connecting chairs in rows NEW EQUIPMENT Ltd 11 Aug 1972 [17 Aug 1971] 38551/71 Heading A4U A pair of similar metal-framed chairs 1,1' are inter-connected side-by-side by a hook member 2 and an engagement eye member 3 which are bent up from wire or rod and have end parts 6, 5 welded to adjacent rear legs of the chairs, the hook formation of the member 2 having side limbs 4 with spaced vertical portions 8a, 8b between which an intermediate limb 9 of the member 3 is received. The member 2 is preferably mounted so that the hook formation depends from the end parts 6, the chairs being inter-connected by tilting the chair 1' laterally, to bring the aperture of the eye vertically below the hook, and then tilting in the opposite direction to bring the eye to the level of the entry opening of the hook. The limb 9 is then fully entered into the hook to a final position resting on the hook at a position vertically spaced from the entry opening. The side limbs 4 converge away from the parts 6 to fit with small clearance between the parts 5 so that tilting in a front to back direction is ineffective to disconnect the chairs.
