Abstract

1398074 Aerating liquids; mixing apparatus J MACMANUS 14 Sept 1972 [16 June 1971] 28275/71 Heading D1C In a modification of the apparatus of Specification 1250497 for making e.g. whipped cream the rotary vane pump 7 draws in liquid from an unpresurised, unrefrigerated container through the hose 15, and air through a filter 23 and a thin-walled tubular portion 33 which is surrounded by a chamber (32, Fig 1 not shown) which contains refrigerant. The tubular portion 33 is formed in a member 17 which terminates in a needle valve 20 which can be adjusted, to control the air flow rate, by rotating the member 17. The suction of the pump opens the valve 25, 27, and liquid and air are mixed in the pump and delivered through a non-return valve 10 to a detachable static homogendzer 28 which has a solenoid discharge valve (29). A controller (36) may incorporate a timing device so that when switched on the pump and solenoid valve operate to deliver a pre-determined portion. The liquid inlet may include a chort metallic tube (not depicted) passing through the refrigerant chamber (32).
