Abstract
1398034 Viscometer POLYSAR Ltd 2 May 1973 [3 May 1972] 20917/73 Heading G1S [Also in Divisions B 1 and C3] A viscometer arrangement which may be incorporated into polymerization process equipment comprises a capillary viscometer having liquid level detectors 394, 396 connected to an electronic timing device 471, solvent storage vessel 358 connected by line 381 to valve 383 for introduction of solvent into the viscometer for the measurement and for cleaning, line 408 for connection of the viscometer capillary tube to vacuum through valve 414, to a source of airpressure through valve 412 and to waste and atmospheric pressure through valve 410, line 404 connecting arm 402 of the viscometer to waste and atmospheric pressure and line 382 being connected to vacuum through valve 384, the sample from process line 302 being flushed through a slide valve 306 by solvent from pipette 350 into a mixing vessel 370, the polymer solution so formed then passing through heat exchanger 378 and valve 380 into the viscometer for measurement, all operations being under automatic control.
