Abstract

1396135 Multiplex systems SIEMENS AG 25 Aug 1972 [27 Aug 1971] 39612/72 Heading H4R In a frequency division multiplex carrier frequency transmission system each carrier or pilot frequency is generated by a respective phase locked loop oscillator controlled by a common control frequency. As described, the carriers TG1-TG3 of the tertiary group, and QG1, QG2 of the quaternary group and the quaternary group pilot QGPil, are generated by the phase locked loop generator Tr. Each generator comprises, as shown in Fig. 2, an oscillator Os 2 whose frequency is controlled by a reactance diode Var fed with a D.C. control voltage derived by comparison of the common control frequeney f st and a divided output of the oscillator in a phase comparator D. The control voltage U is also applied to two threshold detectors G1 and G2, direct to one G1, and via a differentiation circuit to the other G2. The first threshold detector G1 detects excursions of the control voltage corresponding to a frequency deviation of the oscillator Os 2 outside the pull-in range, while the second threshold detector detects rapid changes in the control voltage resulting from a gross error in the oscillator Os 2 frequency which causes cyclic phase changes which would switch detector G1 continuously on and off. The two detector outputs are connected to control gates on the oscillator output to inhibit the output and raise an alarm if the signal is of incorrect frequency. Circuits of the threshold detectors, Fig. 5 (not shown), and the oscillator control circuit, Fig. 6 (not shown), are described.
