Abstract
1395474 Producing radioactive substances MEDI-PHYSICS Inc 17 April 1973 [26 April 1972] 18388/73 Headings G6P and G6R Fluorine-18 is made by irradiating neon with deuterons, heating the reaction zone, and passing a gas, for example dry hydrogen, through the reaction zone to remove the F18. The heating may be to 700‹-900‹ C. and serves to reduce adherence of the F18 to the walls of the reaction zone. A suitable apparatus comprising a nickel reaction tube is described with reference to a drawing. The F18 may be used directly to label pharmaceutical materials or may be reacted with water.
