Abstract
1394980 Pressure gauge DRESSER INDUSTRIES Inc 22 Aug 1973 [23 Aug 1972] 39860/73 Heading G1L A Bourdon tube 35, Fig. 1 or 80 Fig. 2 (not shown), sealed at both ends encloses an incompressible liquid, such as liquid silicone or glycerine, which completely fills the tube at a given external pressure to limit the overload that can be applied externally of the tube. In the arrangement shown the tube 35 is immersed in an incompressible fluid 19 in a bore 18 and the lower tube end is secured to a collar 34 fixed to an apertured disc 28 and the upper tube end is secured to an axially floating collar 36 rotatably supported on a pin 26. When pressure is applied at 38, a diaphragm 30 transmits the pressure to fluid 19 to compress tube 35 which partially rotates a pointer 62 through magnets 37, 59, An indicating apparatus 11 is attached to the upper end of a cylindrical tubular housing 15 having flat sides 21 and 22. The collar 34 may be extended into the vicinity of collar 36 and may be constructed of quartz to enhance viscous damping and compensate for temperature changes.
