Abstract
1394583 Particle detectors SVENSKAUTVECKLINGS AB 30 June 1972 30848/72 Headings G1A and G1X Apparatus for detecting particles in a gas comprises a light source 21, and condenser 22 which directs a light beam 23 longitudinally of a scattering chamber 24, 24'. Gas containing particles enters at inlet 27 and leaves at outlet 28, the light beam 23 and particles travelling in the same direction over a relatively long distance so as to maximize the scattering effect of the particles. Scattered light passes into a light converger 29, 30 being detected by light sensitive cell 31, unscattered light being directed on to a light trap 25. A cell 33 is used to facilitate zeroing of the apparatus, receiving, when required, light via a particle free internally reflecting tube 34.
