Abstract

1394327 Laminates PAMPUS KG 4 June 1973 [3 June 1972] 26568/73 Heading B5N [Also in Division F2] A pipe or container of glass-fibre-reinforced plastics material has bonded to a surface thereof a lining of unreinforced plastics material, e.g. PTFE, having a different coefficient of thermal expansion from that of the glass-fibrereinforced plastics material, the lining being bonded to the surface only in discrete zones uniformly distributed over the surface. In the case of a pipe the lining may be bonded to the interior of the pipe in annular bands and in the case of a container the lining may be bonded to the interior thereof in areas uniformly distributed over the entire surface in the form of a chequered pattern. Bonding may be effected with an adhesive. Bonding in discrete zones may be effected by etching only the areas of the PTFE sheet to be bonded or by roughening the entire surface of the sheet and masking the areas not to be bonded.
