Abstract

1394119 Electric couplings HAPPICH GmbH Gebr 4 May 1972 [26 May 1971] 20884/72 Heading H2E [Also in Division F4] A lighting fitting, e.g. a roof or ceiling fitting for use inside buses, comprises an extruded base rail 1 which carries electric leads 6 and mounting fixtures 7, 8 for incandescent lamps at intervals therealong, wherein the base rail 1 has apertures passing through it for ventilation and/or other purposes and it can be cut to any required length. As shown, Fig. 3, the extruded insulating base rail 1 is formed with three grooves 4 in one face, in two of which unsheathed flat conductors 6 are located by undercut edges 5, the apertures being formed in the third groove. Rivets 9 extending from the conductors 6 through the base rail 1 make respective contact with the base-plate 7 and with V-spring contacts 8 of the lampholders 12 for the incandescent lamps 13. Spring elements (16), Fig. 4 (not shown), disposed in apertures in the base rail and connected to reduced length rivets may contact the strip conductors which have alternate insulating and conducting surface portions and which are longitudinally movable within the grooves to facilitate making and breaking of the lamp circuits. End covers 18 close the ends of an extruded light-transmitting cover 3 which may also be cut to the required length, and if a number of such lighting fittings are mounted end to end appropriate sectional coupling members are provided between the fittings, which couplings may incorporate additional functional elements such as a switch, an additional light or night light, an air nozzle or a loud-speaker.
