Abstract

1393176 Ballasting pipelines METAL & PIPELINE ENDURANCE Ltd and E BURBRIDGE 19 Feb 1973 [14 April 1972] 17462/72 Heading F2P A pipeline 10, e.g. for carrying natural gas through swamp areas, is ballasted with a concrete block 11 having a recess 12, the block being supported on the pipeline by a ring 13 having a number of spacer blocks 17, 19 in U- formation and the ring being operable for fitment around the pipeline. As shown, the ring comprises two segments 14, 15 of plastics coated steel and a neoprene liner may be interposed between the ring and the pipeline. The spacer blocks 17, 19, two of which, 19, are mounted on spacing brackets 18, may be of glass fibre reinforced polyester plastics. Two such rings 13 support a single ballast block 11, (Fig. 2, not shown).
