1393120 Preventing theft F R PEGG 2 Oct 1972 [18 Dec 1971] 57339/72 Heading E2M [Also in Division G4] An alarm apparatus for incorporation in a bag or case 1 comprises a smoke emission device 2, an electrically operated sound emitting device 6 associated with a switch 13, a pull chain or cord 3, 7 connected to the devices 2, 6 and which when actuated by a bearer carrying the bag causes simultaneous operation of the devices 2, 6 to provide a visual and audible alarm. The coloured smoke emitted by device 2 may have a dyeing action on anything or anyone with which it comes in contact. The audible alarm apparatus including a horn 6, battery 12 and the switch 13 may be enolosed in a housing 9 to prevent tampering. After actuation of the alarm, the bearer may free himself of the bag by pulling the chain clear of the bag.
