1392566 Making hollow ware ETABS CHARLES PAUTRY 5 Oct 1972 [6 Oct 1971] 46029/72 Heading B3A A rolled-over rim is formed on a container blank in two operations, using a different curling die for each operation. An aerosol container is formed by backward impact extrusion, followed by an edge-trimming operation using a tool which is connected to a mandrel supported on the bottom of the blank. A necking operation may follow before the trimmed edge is rolledover, Fig. 3, by a curling die 5, Fig. 2. A similar die (8), Fig. 4 (not shown), extends the rolledover part (10), Fig. 5 (not shown). The operations may be performed on a lacquered container blank, the formed blank being provided with a valve 13 secured by a metal cap 14 having a crimped edge 15.
