Abstract

1392048 Regulating I C engines THOMAS HILL (ROTHERHAM) Ltd 11 Jan 1973 [12 Jan 1972] 1504/72 Heading F1B A safety device for fitment to the air intake of a diesel engine comprises a casing 10 defining aligned sections 22 and 24 of a flow passage and an enlarged central chamber 12 in which a closure member 28 capable of closing an inlet end 26 of one of said sections of the flow passage is disposed, said closure member being slidably located on a spindle 30 which extends axially of the central chamber 12 and into at least the adjacent portion of flow passage 24 the inlet end of which the closure member 28 can close, spring means 32 being provided to act at one end against the closure member and to react at its other end against the spindle to urge said closure member away from the end 26 of the flow passage 24, adjustment means being provided for adjusting the longitudinal location of the spindle to vary the spring force which the closure member must overcome to close the inlet end of the section 24 of the flow passage. Two hexagonal bars 36 and 38 extend diametrally across the flow passages 22 and 24 respectively, the bar 36 has a tapped hole into which the threaded end of the spindle screws and the bar 38 has a bushed hole through which the spindle slides. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1313686.
