Abstract
1391292 Photographic camera exposure control POLAROID CORP 27 July 1972 [3 Aug 1971] 35183/72 Addition to 1371995 Heading G2A A photographic camera has a follow-focus arrangement as described in Specification No. 1371995, the coupling between the focus adjustment and the exposure aperture regulator means including a cam 158, Fig.2, movable in correspondence with the movement of the focusing means and a cam follower 156 which variably positions on interceptor leg portion 142 in the locus of travel of the exposure regulator means 34 as it moves under the action of a spring 52 to gradually close the exposure aperture formed by apertures 24, 26 in blades 16, 18. The cam is disposed on a focusing adjustment gear 124 rotation of which rotates a focusing bezel. The cam follower is mounted on an assembly 148 having elongate slot 160 which fits over a bushing 130 supporting gear 124 and an elongate slot 162 in which a pin 164 on lever 166 slides. The assembly has apertured tabs 152, 154 to which is pivotally mounted the interceptor 140. The interceptor is normally biased out of the locus of travel of striker pin 138 mounted on exposure regulator means 34 by a plunger assembly 168 engaging interceptor extension 178, but upon energization of an electromagnet 180 a plunger 182 is attracted into the electromagnet so that an arm portion 194 of a pull-down bar 186 abuts extension 174 to pivot interceptor 140 so that interceptor leg portion 142 now lies in the locus of travel. Lever 166 is coupled for movement with the adjustment of a variable density optical wedge which is adjusted in front of a photo-cell to allow for minor variations in film speed. This adjustment permits automatic exposure control in ambient light conditions, and the same adjustment is thus allowed for under flash-light conditions. The focus adjustment wheel has associated therewith a spring loaded detent pin 200 so as to prevent rotation of the wheel outside of the focus range. An electromagnet 62 when energized closes the exposure aperture by the coupling between a comb-shaped connector 70 attached to electromagnet plunger 66 and a pin 46 which couples blade 18 to the aperture regular means.
