Abstract

1390656 PVA/PVC fibres KOHJIN KK 27 Oct 1972 49755/72 Heading B5B [Also in Division C3] A spinning suspension comprises (a) a chlorine containing polymer and (b) a water-soluble polymer consisting wholly or predominantly of polyvinyl alochol in a weight ratio (a) to (b) of 2À8 to 8À2 and (c) stannic oxide and/or stannic acid consisting wholly or predominantly of #-stannic acid in an amount of 0À3-10% calculated as tin based on the total polymer weight. Polymer (a) is particularly PVC, vinylidene chloride graft polymerized on to acrylamide/diacetone acrylamide/sodium methallylsulphonate copolymer or a mixture of PVC and polyvinylidene chloride. The polyvinyl alcohol may be mixed with polyacrylamide, methylolated polyacrylamide or a copolymer of acrylamide and diactone acrylamide. The aqueous mixture is wet spun into an inorganic salt, e.g. sodium sulphate solution and may be subjected to stretching, drying heat stretching, heat setting, washing, acetalization, oiling, crimping and cutting to obtain staple fibres. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,299,624.
