Abstract

1390530 Oligomerisation catalyst AKADEMIE DER WISSENSCHAFTEN DER DDR 2 Nov 1972 50487/72 Heading B1E [Also in Division C5] An oligomerisation catalyst comprises a thermally pretreated carrier which is a completely hydrated alumina or a partially dehydrated aluminium oxide or a hydroxidegroup containing alumina, e.g. bayerite, bohmite, hydrargillite or gamma-alumina, which has been reacted firstly with at least one halogen-containing organo-aluminium compound and, subsequently, impregnated with at least one divalent nickel and/or cobalt complex in which ligand atoms include, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, arsenic and/or antimony, the reaction and subsequent impregnation been carried out at -50 to 150‹C. The catalyst may be regenerated after use in oligomerisation by (i) if there is only a small drop in activity, applying a small amount of a halogen-containing organo-aluminium compound to the catalyst, or by (ii) if there is substantial deactivation, firstly impregnating with the divalent nickel and/or cobalt complex and then impregnating with the halogencontaining organo-aluminium compound.
