Abstract

1390183 Load handling attachments MORRELL MILLS & CO Ltd 6 March 1972 [17 March 1971 7 Oct 1971] 7344/71 and 46583/71 Heading B8H [Also in Division E2] A side spreader attachment for handling container traffic containers has a pair of downwardly open pockets 9, 10 for engagement with respective projections 25, 26 on a vehicle framework whereby the attachment may be removably mounted on said vehicle. A spring urged plunger (34) Fig. 3 (not shown) associated with each pocket engages in apertures 27, 28 in the projections when the same are inserted in the pockets. Lugs (70), Fig. 4 (not shown), are mounted on the upper front edge of the spreader for engagement with a corner casting of a container and have shoulders on their upper surface the depth (B) of which is greater than the clearance (A) between the lug and the opening in the corner casting, to prevent accidental withdrawal thereof. The lug may be withdrawn by pivoting same in the direction (C).
