Abstract

1390149 Polyurethane coating compositions BAYER AG 26 Nov 1973 54714/73 Heading C3R Polyurethane coating compositions comprise (1) a polyurethane produced from a polyisocyanate and a compound containing reactive hydrogen atoms, and (2) at least one parting agent having the formula wherein LC is a linear, saturated or unsaturated aliphatic group containing 8 to 20 carbon atoms, R<SP>5</SP> is a C 1-4 alkyl group, R<SP>4</SP> is a hydrogen atom, a C 1-3 alkyl group or a C 6-10 aryl group and Q is the residue (less one NCO group) of a modified polyisocyanate i.e. a polyisocyanate which contains urethane, urea, isocyanurate, biuret and/or allophanate groups. The parting agent may be prepared in situ in the composition by reaction of the corresponding amino alcohol with the modified polyisocyanate. In specific examples the parting agent used is one prepared by reacting (1) N-methyl-stearylisopropanol-amine with a modified triisocyanate containing urethane groups prepared from 1 mol. of trimethylolpropane and 3 mols. of tolylene-2,4-diisocyanate and (2) N-methylcetylisobutanolamine with a modified polyisocyanate containing isocyanurate group prepared by trimerizing 1 mol. of hexamethylene diisocyanate and 2 mols. of tolylene-2,4-diisocyanate.
