Abstract

1390148 Belt-retainers R ZAOUI 26 Oct 1973 [29 May 1973] 49942/73 Heading A3V [Also in Division B8] An article of clothing such as a skirt, dress or trousers is provided with a plurality of belt-retainers, each retainer comprising at least two adjacent strips 2, 3 of different lengths secured to the article in the region of their ends so as to define apertures of at least two different widths for accommodating belts of different widths. The retainer shown in Fig. 2 has seven alternating strips of two different lengths, a narrow belt as shown being passed through the short strips 3 and either through or over the long strips 2. Various other arrangements of from three to seven strips 2, 3 are disclosed. Instead of having strips of alternating lengths, from two to five strips all of different lengths may be arranged in increasing order of length. In all the above cases the strips are disposed at right angles to the belt and may be placed edge to edge or spaced apart. Fig. 6 shows an alternative embodiment wherein one strip 12 is at right angles to the belt while strips 13, 14 are oblique with respect thereto. The invention is also applicable to strap retainers for articles of luggage.
