Abstract

1390061 Inducing reaction by microwaves MAGYAR VISCOSAGYAR 21 Feb 1972 7928/72 Heading B1X [Also in Division C3] An apparatus used for making porous cellulose from solutions of cellulose derivatives (see Division C3) comprises a hollow resonator 1, serving as a coagulation and/or regeneration chamber, which is turned to a frequency appropriate to heat water. The resonator is connected via lead 2 to a magnetron 3 having a cooler 4 and a single phase half-wave rectifier 5, which is connected to power control unit 6 which is controlled by a characteristic former 8 and microwave detector 7 which together monitor a parameter Q, which is related to the amount of energy stored in and lost from the resonator, and which convert the signal into a form suitable for operating control 6. A feeder 10 supplies the resonator with material on a sieve 12 passing through the resonator and a pair of band filters 9. Exhaust unit 11 is also connected to the resonator.
