1389522 Collapsible baths for invalids &c J S HOXENG C J CASS and B J McCARTY 4 April 1973 16085/73 Heading A4N A collapsible bath assembly suitable for use by invalids &c, comprises a sheet 45 Fig. 1, of water impervious flexible sheet material, an end frame 25 arranged to be located adjacent the foot of a bed 46,47 a head frame 30 arranged to be located, when operative, adjacent the bed head, and a pair of longitudinally extending side rails 31, 32 mounted in spaced relationship on the members 25,30 and adapted to be collapsed substantially at their mid-points from the operative, Fig. 1, position to the fully collapsed, inoperative, Fig.4 (not shown) position. The edges of the sheet 45 are connected to the rails 31,32 and to crossmembers 72 and 95 of the respective frames. The assembly is supported by wheels on the floor by the frames independently of the bed which remains in position to support the patient and the bottom of the sheet 45 in use. The member 95 may be removed during assembly if the bed is equipped with traction apparatus and as the assembly is extended along the bed from the Fig.4 position, rollers, Fig.6 (not shown) on the ends of the rails 31,32 are guided in channels in sleeve members 60,100 on the frames. The height of the operative assembly is adjusted by moving these sleeves relative to side posts 54,90. SUPPLY AND SHOWER FITTINGS. The bath is filled via a conduit 180 and optionally through a shower head 182 which may also be used to wash the hair &c of the patient. The temperature control valve 130, Fig.3, is adjusted with a tub selector valve 140 connected to a drain position connecting the outlet of valve 130 through the valve 140 to a drain pipe 170 via a vacuum pump 195. This enables water to flow in through the hot and cold water inlets 160,161 and when it is mixed and reaches a selected temperature the valve 140 is moved to a tub position and the bath is filled. The controls are mounted on a cabinet 40 supported on the frame 25. DRAIN FITTINGS A drain hose 192, is placed in the water and the valve 140 moved to the drain position and the pump 195 aspirates water through the hose 192, a pipe 194, a check valve 197 to a drain hose 170 located in a sink &c.
