1388632 Furniture joints STILEXO JOHANSSON & CO AB 19 May 1972 [11 Oct 1971] 23663/72 Heading F2M A hollow leg 3 of inverted U section, of which a plurality, e.g. four, are to be attached to a tubular column 1 for supporting a furniture element, e.g. for mounting a swivel chain, is provided at its inner end with inwardly bent lugs 5, 6 provided with raised portions on the rear surfaces of the lugs, e.g. by stamping depressions 7, and the leg is secured to the column 1 by a bracket 21, Fig. 11, and a wedge 4, Fig. 6, the bracket having a web portion 22 with depressions 27 corresponding with the depressions 7 and adapted to engage the raised portions on the rear surfaces of the lugs 5, 6, while the flanges 23, 24 project out of the inner end of the leg 3 so that at least the upper flange 23 may be passed through a slot 2, Fig. 5, in the column, after which the wedge 4 is inserted through holes 25 in the flanges from below to tighten the leg to the column. A foot member, Fig. 8 is secured to the outer end of the leg and consists of a moulding of resilient plastics material providing a foot portion 11, a closure cap 13 to cover the end of the leg 3, and a locking arrangement comprising a shim 14, a web 15 and a pair of projections 16. The outer end of the leg has two lugs (8, 9, Fig. 4, not shown) similar to the lugs 5, 6 but with a gap between them to accommodate the web 15, the resilience of the foot member allowing the lugs to be forced between the shim 14 and the projections 16 when the foot member is pushed upwardly into position on the leg end. A hole 18 is provided for the insertion of a tool when it is desired to remove the foot member.
