Abstract

1388631 Recovering petrol vapours during filling of petrol tanks GULF OIL CORP 16 May 1972 22870/72 Heading B1B Petrol vapour is recovered, e.g. during filling of petrol storage tanks 31 or motor vehicle petrol tanks 43, Fig. 1, by condensation in the condensing system shown in Fig. 2, the vapour being conveyed to the condensing system from surge tank 37 via line 38 when the volume of vapour in surge tank 37 reaches a certain value sensed by diaphragm 60 which causes level transmitter 61 to send a signal to a con-- troller to activate compressor 72 to initiate the flow of vapour. The condensed vapour is returned to tanks 31 via lines 85, 86 and 34. The condensing system, Fig. 2, comprises cooler 79, chiller 88 and cooler/chiller 96 which are cooled by liquid refrigerant supplied by aircooled condenser 108 and tank 110. The signal from level transmitter 61 also activates fan motor 73 and refrigeration compressor 74.
