Abstract

1388484 Woven webbing TOYOTA JIDOSHA KOGYO KK TOKAI RIKA DENKI SEISAKUSHO KK and HOSHINO KOGYO KK 17 March 1972 12679/72 Heading D1K Seat belt webbing comprises weft yarns, a first second and third set of warp yarns each having different strength and elongation characteristics the second and third set having lower breakage loads than the first set and weft yarns all weft yarns breaking in the range 200-1100 kg, the belt behaving in loading in such a way that a stage is reached during elongation of the belt where the second and third set of yarns break progressively whilst the first set and wefts hold them progressively more tightly and a second stage during which most of the first set remain unbroken but are plastically deformed. The warps may be of polyester or polyamide and the weft of nylon. Several examples are given with types of yarn, yarn density, twist and weft density. The fabric may be a plain weave or a twill.
