Abstract

1388073 Sorting fibre optics guides INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 15 March 1973 [30 March 1972] 12519/73 Heading G1A [ Also in Division G2] A method of selecting those fibres 3 in a woven layer consisting of a cotton weft (4) and fibre optic warp 3 which are transmitting light, comprises clamping the free ends of the fibres 3 in a device (9), see Fig. 4 (not shown), and using a moveable guide 10 to select each fibre in turn for testing by a light-sensitive detector which operates air nozzles 12, 13 to deflect the fibre to one side or the other of the fork 11.
